Subtitle sync guide
How to sync subtitles in Stremio
Stremio’s player has a subtitle delay slider built into the subtitles menu, so you can align captions without leaving the app.
Works on: Windows · macOS · Linux · Android · Web
Step by step
- 1
Open the subtitles menu
During playback, click the subtitles (speech-bubble) icon in the player controls.
- 2
Find the delay control
In the subtitles panel, locate “Subtitles delay” (shown in seconds), alongside size and position options.
- 3
Shift the timing
Use the − and + buttons to move the subtitles earlier or later, typically in 0.1-second steps, until they match the dialogue.
- 4
Try a different subtitle source if needed
If one subtitle track is badly mistimed, open the track list and pick another — Stremio often offers several versions for the same title.
The delay applies to the current stream only. For a subtitle file you uploaded or downloaded yourself, correct it once with the SubAlign sync tool so it’s right everywhere.
Fix the subtitle file permanently
The delay in Stremio is only temporary. To fix the timing for good, correct the subtitle file once and it plays in sync everywhere.

Why are my Stremio subtitles out of sync?
The subtitle track you picked was timed for a different release of the video. Use the “Subtitles delay” control in the subtitles menu to nudge it into place, or switch to another subtitle version from the track list.
How much can I delay subtitles in Stremio?
The delay control adjusts in small steps (about 0.1 seconds) and you can keep pressing to reach several seconds in either direction, which covers almost every out-of-sync case.
